Ingrid Nelson participates in Cooperative Education Program

MENOMONIE, WI (07/02/2012)(readMedia)-- Ingrid Nelson of Lake Elmo, Minn. is employed through the Cooperative Education Program at University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Nelson majoring in Retail Merchandising and Management is working as a executive store management intern with Target in Eagan, Minn.

Approximately 875 students participate annually in the program that integrates college studies with work experience in industry, business, government or public service, according to Bethany Henthorn, cooperative education coordinator.

Participating students develop employment contacts, interpersonal skills and pursue career goals in addition to applying learned educational theory to the work setting. Through the program, students leave campus for a period of up to one year to work nationally or internationally to further develop their professional skills as they prepare for full-time careers.

UW-Stout, Wisconsin's Polytechnic University, is a special mission university in the UW System. The university has a long-standing reputation of serving business, industry, education and the helping professions through its specialized educational programs.
