Issaquah native participates in civil rights awareness project

WALLA WALLA, WA (01/26/2012)(readMedia)-- Allison Bolgiano of Issaquah is currently participating in "Whitman Teaches the Movement" a partner project between Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash., Walla Walla Public Schools, and the Southern Poverty Law Center, a facility based in Montgomery, Ala.

The goal of the project is to increase awareness about the civil rights movement among elementary school students. A group of over 100 Whitman College students will be teaching classes in local schools and focusing on different aspects of the movement in each grade.

Bolgiano, the daughter of Doug Bolgiano and Sharon Hopkins, is a 2010 graduate of Liberty High School. She is currently a sophomore politics-environmental studies major at Whitman
