JCRC-NY Joins NYCPS to Kick Off First-of-its-Kind Jewish and Muslim Education Initiatives to Combat Hate

NEW YORK, NY (11/12/2025) (readMedia)-- This morning, JCRC-NY CEO Mark Treyger will join New York City Public Schools Chancellor Melissa Aviles-Ramos, Jewish and Muslim history scholars and students to announce the launch of two Jewish education initiatives and a Muslim education initiative aimed at providing evidence-based tools to combat hate before it takes root.

One of the initiatives, Hidden Voices: Jewish Americans in U.S. History, Volume 1, is a K-12 curricular resource introduced in September that highlights Jewish figures who helped shape the nation and New York City. At today's press conference, Aviles-Ramos will announce several public schools across all five boroughs that will pilot the curriculum as well as Hidden Voices: Muslim Americans, a resource recognizing Muslim Americans who have made lasting contributions to the country and city.

Treyger will also highlight Student to Student, a national program launching for the first time in a subset of NYC schools. In partnership with NYCPS, the program will bring Jewish students into high school classrooms to share their experiences and promote understanding.

JCRC-NY proudly honored Chancellor Aviles-Ramos for her continued partnership, including her support of these initiatives, at its annual reception at Somos in Puerto Rico on Thursday.
