Rockford University return specialist Ja'uan Joiner (Phenix City, Ala.) earned yet another award on Tuesday when he was named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Football Special Teams Student-Athlete of the Week. This marks the second time this year Joiner has been recognized by the NACC after being named NACC Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week earlier in the season. Joiner becomes the first RU football player to ever receive multiple different NACC weekly awards in a season or in a career.
Sophomore Ja'uan Joiner provided a jolt for the Regents this past Saturday against Concordia University Chicago. Joiner returned 3 kickoffs for 133 yards including one for an 86-yard touchdown. It was Rockford's first kickoff return for a touchdown since October 17, 2009 when Jeremiah Montgomery returned a kickoff 77 yards for a score.
The Rockford University football team will play its final home game of the season on Saturday, November 3 against Concordia University Wisconsin. Kickoff is set for 1 PM at Sam Greeley Field. The Regents will also be honoring their eight seniors prior to the start of the game.
