MANCHESTER, NH (05/04/2012)(readMedia)-- Jacqueline Lavorgna, a junior majoring in international relations, will spend the summer on a research project at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College as the 2012 Albert J. Gordon Summer Research Fellow. The fellowship offers an opportunity for an outstanding student or recent alumnus to gain experience that will be valuable in postgraduate and professional pursuits related to public policy and public affairs.
"My research project is aimed at offering a case study of biblical passages and secondary sources relating to land to provide a background that may help facilitate a dialogue regarding territorial claims between the parties involved in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict," said Lavorgna.
Lavorgna will study under the direction of Dr. Ahida Pilarski, of the Department of Theology. "I see this as an opportunity to apply a theological perspective to my interest in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict," she says. This fellowship will allow me to develop my skills as a researcher while broadening my perspective on the issue. As the mission of the New Hampshire Institute of Politics is to educate citizens about contemporary issues, this research will provide a relevant insight for the Saint Anselm community and the local and global communities."
The New Hampshire Institute of Politics, founded in 2001, is New Hampshire's premier resource for those interested in contemporary political issues. The Institute sponsors educational programs, distinguished speakers, and scholarly research designed to enrich the political knowledge of Saint Anselm students and citizens throughout New England and the United States.
