ST. MARY'S CITY, MD (12/02/2011)(readMedia)-- James Conrad Williams Jr. of Waldorf, Maryland, is the recipient of a Charles County Scholarship at St. Mary's College of Maryland. The scholarship was established by the Charles County Commissioners and private donors to benefit academically talented students from Charles County with financial need.

Williams, Class of 2012, is majoring in anthropology. He works in the college's scene shop and at the campus community farm. Williams is interested in languages, including Italian, Sicilian, French, and Spanish, carpentry, farming, and the environment. He intends to pursue a career as a professor of romance languages and spend time living abroad.

St. Mary's College of Maryland, designated the Maryland state honors college in 1992, is ranked one of the best public liberal arts schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. More than 2,000 students attend the college, nestled on the St. Mary's River in Southern Maryland.
