COLUMBUS, GA (08/10/2012)(readMedia)-- Mezzo soprano Jeanette Luna, of Lawrenceville, Ga., received two awards at the conclusion of her study in the Bel Canto Opera Program in Florence, Italy, this summer. She was presented with a Performance Award as well as an Orchestral Award, based upon the quality of her work during the program and in the final performances. The Performance Award includes vocal performances at the Marcella Sembrich Opera Museum in Lake George, NY, and the Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lake Paltz, NY, later this summer. The Orchestral Award includes a performance with the Vermont Philharmonic Orchestra, in mid-October.
Luna, a rising junior at Columbus State University, is the student of Dian Lawler-Johnson, vocal instructor in the Schwob School of Music.
