Eastern Illinois University students Jemma Booth and Silas Hortenstine, both Biological Sciences majors, were recognized for their research excellence at the 10th Annual East Central Illinois American Chemical Society (ACS) Undergraduate Research Conference, held November 8 at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Booth received the University of Illinois Women Chemists Committee Outstanding Poster Award, and Hortenstine received the East Central Illinois Section of the American Chemical Society Outstanding Poster Award. Both students presented research conducted in the Beck Research Group.
Their project is supported by an NIH R15 AREA grant (R15GM152890) and focuses on identifying factors that influence carboxylesterase-mediated drug metabolism.
