FULTON, MO (06/13/2012)(readMedia)-- Jenna Martin of Valley Center, Calif., is the 2012 recipient of the Hunter/Jumper Appreciation Award at William Woods University. Each year the riding disciplines recognize an outstanding graduating senior in each discipline.
Dr. Linda McClaren, hunter/jumper professor, can't remember Martin saying a cross word in her four years at WWU.
"She has a remarkably level temperament that I can only aspire to," McClaren said.
An accomplished rider, Martin showed for WWU at off-campus rated shows and took part in the university's fox hunting adventure sponsored by mystery author Rita Mae Brown in the fall of 2010.
McClaren, who was out for part of the spring 2012 semester, said, "Jenna was a huge help to Michele Smith and Jean Krause during my medical leave this spring; covering student teaching, keepers and facility management with grace."
Smith, equestrian studies adjunct professor, commented that Martin has a "professional demeanor, very helpful and positive attitude; Jenna is precisely what we want a WWU equestrian graduate to be."
After graduation Martin took a head instructor position at Bannon Woods Farm in Fairdale, Ky.
