MILLERSVILLE, PA (06/13/2014)(readMedia)-- Jennifer Houtz, Mifflintown, Pa., has been selected to receive the Greek Council Award. Houtz will graduate from Juniata High School and will attend Millersville University of Pennsylvania this fall to study biology.
The Greek Council Award is a non-renewable award in the amount of $957. It is an award to recognize a recipient's demonstrated academic excellence in high school while maintaining an extensive involvement in extra-curricular activities.
Houtz achieved academic success in high school, where she completed a solid college preparatory load of courses which included several advanced and Advanced Placement classes including biology and chemistry. She was very active in music throughout all four years of high school, participating in vocal groups, band, and jazz band. She was also an active participant in both performance and technical theatre each year.
In grades nine through twelve Houtz was president of the Key Club, SWEETS (Students with Effective Efforts Towards School) and a member of the Varsity J Club and the Silks Squad. Jennifer was a member of both the track and field and the field hockey teams in grades nine through 12 and served as field hockey team captain. She was a two year member of the National Honor Society and selected as a student of the month in each of grades 10 through 12.
