BURLINGTON, VT (06/11/2010)(readMedia)-- Jericho resident James Candon, who graduated from the University of Vermont this year with a major in biology, is the 2010 recipient of the Keith M. Miser Leadership Award. The award recognizes the student who has been successful in campus leadership endeavors.
During his time as a student, Candon has been involved a variety of positions and organizations at UVM. He has participated in the UVM Outing Club, Alternative Spring Break, served as an AdvoCat for the Admissions Office, a Residential Advisor, Hall Council, the Student Government Association, and the Boulder Society. Candon has also been the leader of Alternative Spring Break and worked on research with the Vermont Lung Center.
Candon captured his UVM experience with these words: "Once I became involved around campus, I was quickly woven into a fabric of community making UVM not just a school, but my home."
The award was announced at the University of Vermont's 206th Commencement ceremonies on May 23, where some 2,411 students were awarded a variety of bachelor's degrees, an estimated 514 advanced degrees and certificates were awarded by the UVM Graduate College and approximately 102 women and men took the oath of Hippocrates following the awarding of their M.D. degrees.
