Jim Willers Reelected Chairman of the Soybean Council

MANKATO, MN (06/19/2009)(readMedia)-- Today, members of the Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council (MSR&PC) elected officers during their board of directors meeting. Jim Willers, of Beaver Creek, was reelected as the council's Chairman.

"It's a privilege to continue serving Minnesota's soybean farmers as the Chairman of the council," says Willers. "Investing soybean checkoff dollars wisely and efficiently is a responsibility I take very seriously and I look forward to working on marketing, research and promotional programs in the year ahead."

Other officers include: Gene Stoel, of Lake Wilson, who was reelected Vice Chair; Sue Meyer of New Prague who was reelected Treasurer; and Greg LeBlanc of Crookston who was elected Secretary. All officers serve a one year term.

The Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council is an elected board of 15 soybean producers from across the state who manages the funds collected through the national soybean checkoff. Half of all checkoff funds collected in Minnesota are sent to the United Soybean Board for investment in projects of a national and international scope. The other half stays in Minnesota and is invested in well-defined research, marketing, education and commercialization programs designed to increase demand and thereby improve the profitability of Minnesota's soybean farmers.
