Job Corp Providing Opportunity for Young Adults to Earn Money While They Learn.

Staunton Recreation & Parks Dept. Along with the Boys & Girls Club of Waynesboro, Staunton, and Augusta County Will Be Hosting a Job Corps Informational Session

STAUNTON, VA (01/21/2010)(readMedia)-- In an effort to mobilize older teens and young adults toward gainful employment and ultimately independent productive living, the Staunton Recreation & Parks Department is teaming up with the Boys & Girls Club of Waynesboro, Staunton, and Augusta County to host a Job Corps informational session on Thursday, January 28th from 4-5pm at the Staunton Recreation Department in Montgomery Hall Park. Job Corp provides an opportunity for young adults to earn money while they are learning job skills. Job Corps can help a young person gain specific knowledge and abilities that employers look for when hiring new employees. With the hands-on job training programs at Job Corps, a young man or woman will be prepared and confident to compete for a new or better job when they leave the program.

Job Corps is the nation's most successful federal job training program for youth ages 16 through 24. Each year, Job Corps provides over 70,000 young men and women with an opportunity to gain the experience and competence they need to begin a career and take control of their lives.

Fred Mendez, an admissions counselor with the Job Corps programs will be on hand to share information and answer any questions. We encourage young adults between the ages of 16-24, as well as parents, to come out and see what this program is all about. The program is FREE.
