STAUNTON, VA (12/02/2010)(readMedia)-- Well-known local musician Joe Pettus, and other talented musicians will be singing Christmas tunes and old rhythm and blues songs from artists like Al Green, Aretha Franklin, and Marvin Gaye at the Booker T. Washington Community Center in Saturday Night, December 4th. The event time is 6:30pm-8:30pm. The occasion will also feature comedy improv group- No Strings Attached. This comedy improv group is known for audience participation. Also included in the admission fee is a Free Loaded Baked Potato Bar.
Tickets: $15 in advance/$20 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the Staunton Recreation Department or at Booker T. Washington Community Center. Dancing is encouraged.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the All Girl Conference in April 2011. The 2011 All Girls Conference theme is "Rediscovering the Dying Arts." In addition to the yearly focus on self-esteem and overall health, we will focus on basic skills that are being overshadowed by the technology age-skills that are grandmothers learned when they were teenagers. Skills like baking bread from scratch, gardening and canning your own vegetables, and writing hand-written thank you notes on appropriate occasions.
