John (Addison) Irwin named Oglethorpe Male Athlete of the Week

Sophomore John (Addison) Irwin of the Oglethorpe men's lacrosse team has been named the OU Male Athlete of the Week. A Business Administration major, Irwin is from Lookout Mountain, Tenn. and Baylor School graduate.

In two wins against Averett University and Shorter University, Irwin earned a combined 30 saves and stopped 68.2 percent of opponents' shots. Against Averett, Irwin made 12 saves and had a 5.00 goals-against average. Then against Shorter, Irwin made 18 saves in a one-goal win, allowing only nine goals.

He holds the early lead in the conference in saves (30), and third in goals against average (7.00) and save percentage (.682). For his efforts, Irwin also earned SAA Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.
