HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (04/28/2011)(readMedia)-- At Final Convocation on April 21, Hampden-Sydney College junior Johnathan Alden Sharp received the Jeffrey N. Friend Award, presented by John R.C. Ramsay '05, Assistant Dean of Students. This Award is given to the rising senior who best typifies the qualities for which this late member of the Class of 1984 is remembered: a generous spirit, leadership abilities, and an unusual skill for bringing out the best in his friends and brothers.
John was recently elected President of the Student Government. He has served as Chairman of the College Activities Committee this year and has served on this committee since his freshman year. He is a member the Garnet & Grey (admissions tour guide) and the social fraternity Sigma Nu. A history and fine arts major, John graduated from Stafford Senior High School and is the son of Ellen & Al Sharp of Fredericksburg.
