HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (04/17/2013)(readMedia)-- John Edward Wirges, a junior at Hampden-Sydney College, has been elected General Manager of the student-operated radio station WWHS-FM 92.1. Founded in 1972 and operating from the historic Carriage House, the station broadcasts at 10 watts, reaching the Hampden-Sydney campus and central Prince Edward County.
John, a foreign affairs major, is a member of Circle K, ROTC, the Pre-Law Society, the German Club, and the Tiger Athletic Club. John is a graduate of Landstown High School and is the son of Tom & Sarah Wirges of Virginia Beach.
A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the education of young men.
