LOCK HAVEN, PA (06/11/2012)(readMedia)-- Lock Haven University students learned how to make a difference in the lives of many individuals this spring semester. Dr. Marlene Jensen's Internet Marketing class created webpages to showcase LHU students making a difference.
One of the students involved in the marketing project was Telford resident Jonathan Landis. Jon worked with Paul Kelly, Andy Arvonio, and Sean Zimmerman to create a page about LHU students working on a fundraiser event for Andrew Kriebel, son of Dean Kriebel and his wife Amy, who has Angelman's Syndrome. This syndrome is a seizure disorder that also affects Andrews's ability to talk. All the money raised from the event was given to the Andrew's Special Kid's Foundation (ASK) which was founded in 2004 and has raised over $125,000 since then.
Dr. Marlene Jensen, Assistant Professor Marketing and Entrepreneurship, started this as a project for her Internet Marketing students. According to Dr. Jensen, "LHU's internet marketing students were inspired by the activities of the students they interviewed. And they were delighted their marketing skills could be used to promote such great activities!"
One of the "making a difference" web pages showcases students working on an Anti- Bullying campaign within the community. Other sites focus on involvement in an art and science program and even water quality issues. Working on their webpage designs, Dr. Jensen's students learned more about student involvement and developed their interviewing and web skills.
