HAMDEN, CT (11/10/2011)(readMedia)-- Jordan Berman, of Pennington, N.J., received the Quinnipiac University School of Business' Emerging Leader Award at Quinnipiac's Business Leader Hall of Fame Dinner on Nov. 3 at the Metropolitan Club in New York City.
This award recognizes business students who demonstrate excellence both in and out of the classroom, including leadership roles on campus and/or significant community service.
In addition, the School of Business inducted David M. Darst, managing director and chief investment strategist at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, and James W. McGlothlin, chairman & CEO of The United Company, to its Business Leader Hall of Fame, which strives to recognize the best and brightest leaders who serve as inspirational figures for young people entering the world of business.
In January, Berman traveled to Léon, Nicaragua to work on a microloan project initiated by Quinnipiac's School of Business. He played a key role in gathering relevant data and assessing the character of the applicants and the feasibility of their proposed ventures.
Berman is an active member of the International Business Society. He has raised money for Columbus House, a homeless shelter, and helped organize an international food festival that attracted more than 300 people.
"Jordan is described by Quinnipiac faculty as a budding leader who displays an alert and critical business mind, but more critically, empathy for people," said Matthew O'Connor, dean of the School of Business
