HERKIMER, NY (09/05/2012)(readMedia)-- Herkimer County Community College's standout pitcher Joseph (Joe) Kuzia, Seymour, CT has accepted a baseball scholarship to St. John's University, one of the top baseball programs in the NCAA. Kuzia, a Liberal Arts & Sciences: Physical Education major, will be joining the Red Storm for the 2014 season. The 6'4", 180 lb. right-hander was a mainstay of the Generals' mound staff this past season. Kuzia posted a 4-1 record and struck out more than one batter per inning (32 K, 29.1 inn.).
Kuzia will be a key starter for the Generals in 2013. "Joe worked very hard as a freshman. We're expecting him to be a very effective starter for us next spring," said Herkimer head coach Jason Rathbun. "This young man's family has been a major factor in his success," Rathbun added. "They have supported Joe's efforts, and are strong supporters of Herkimer baseball. We are extremely happy Joe has the opportunity to go on to the great baseball program at St. John's," Rathbun said.
