HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (05/09/2012)(readMedia)-- At Final Convocation on April 26, Hampden-Sydney College sophomore Julian R. Yates received the Willard F. Bliss History Award, presented by Dr. Caroline S. Emmons, Associate Professor of History. The award, established in 1983 by C. Willard Hart, Jr. '49 in memory of his stepfather and history professor Willard F. Bliss, is presented to the sophomore history major who demonstrates the most potential and enthusiasm for the study of history.
Julian is a member of the Tiger Athletic Club, Club Lacrosse, the honor society Eta Sigma Phi (classics), and the social fraternity Beta Theta Pi. A physics major, Julian graduated from E. C. Glass High School and is the son of Carl Yates and Teresa Julian of Lynchburg.
