LAWRENCE, KS (01/12/2012)(readMedia)-- Jeremy Dowden, a doctoral student studying trombone performance with Professor Michael Davidson, was chosen by audition to join the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra as principal trombone.

The Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, established in 1982, has gained international fame as one of the most renowned professional orchestras in China. The orchestra traveled to just three universities (KU, University of Southern California and Julliard) to hear student auditions for the orchestra.

In addition to pursuing his doctoral degree at KU, Dowden also performs as a trombonist for the Topeka Symphony Orchestra and has joined the KU Symphony Orchestra for performances in Eutin, Germany.

Dowden plans to serve the orchestra for one season, starting this March, and then return to his studies at KU.
