Katherine Dacanay Awarded Intrepid Grant from Saint Francis University
LORETTO, PA (03/21/2011)(readMedia)-- Katherine Dacanay, a history/secondary education major at Saint Francis University, was recently awarded a grant through the School of Arts & Letters' Intrepid program. Dacanay, a Sterling native, will use the grant money to travel to London, where she will study the economic and legal rights of 19th-century British women. This research is part of a larger project being supervised by Dr. Kathryn Miele, Assistant Professor of History and the Saint Francis Honors Program.
Intrepid, a grant program for undergraduate students in the university's School of Arts & Letters, helps to support student research, service, and/or academic projects.
To be eligible to receive an Intrepid grant, a student must be a junior or senior and have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.25. The student is also required to write a proposal that outlines the purpose, goals, and costs of the project. The University awarded three Intrepid grants in Spring 2011.
