Katherine Harloe Studying In India

CLINTON, NY (09/29/2010)(readMedia)-- Katherine Harloe, daughter of Bartley and Margaret Harloe of Canton, and a junior at Hamilton College, is studying abroad in India for the 2010 fall semester. The program is operated through the New York State Independent College Consortium for Study in India (NYSICCSI) which is comprised of four colleges -- Hamilton, Hartwick, Hobart and William Smith, and St. Lawrence.

NYSICCSI offers a rich and rigorous program designed to introduce college students to the great geographic and cultural diversity of northern India. The program is directed by a faculty member from one of the NYSICCSI colleges, who accompanies the students in India. The faculty director oversees the curriculum, including the content and staffing of the courses taught by Indian nationals. The faculty director for the 2010 program is Associate Professor Lisa Trivedi of Hamilton College.

Harloe, a graduate of Hugh C. Williams Senior High School, is majoring in comparative literature.

Hamilton College is a highly selective residential college offering a rigorous liberal arts curriculum. Students are challenged to think, write and speak critically, creatively and analytically, so that upon graduation they may distinguish themselves in both their professions and their communities.
