Kathryn Lasky is the Newbery Honor author of over one hundred fiction and nonfiction books for children, young adults, and adults. Her books range from critically acclaimed nonfiction titles such as Beyond the Burning Time and True North to the wildly popular Guardians of Ga'hoole fantasy series about owls.
Lasky will be giving a PowerPoint presentation showing pictures that help to illustrate the process by which she writes her books. She will be focusing on several books, including the research she did at Harvard University for the Ga'Hoole series.
Spiders will also be a focal point of her discussion, as she will focus on Silk and Venom: Searching for a Dangerous Spider. This is a nonfiction book that Lasky worked on with her husband, photographer Christopher G. Knight. Also included in her talk will be The Deadlies, an early chapter books series about an adorable family of venomous spiders. Expect to hear about her Wolves of The Beyond series, as the fourth book Frost Wolf, is expected to be released on December 1. And because this really is a presentation for all manner of readers, Lasky will also include her mermaid series, Daughters of The Sea.
