HERKIMER, NY (05/08/2012)(readMedia)-- Herkimer County Community College has named two student-athletes to the Green and Gold Club for April 2012. HCCC's Green and Gold Club honors an outstanding male and female athlete each month.
The Female Athlete of the Month is Katie McGovern, Women's Lacrosse, Babylon, NY. A Liberal Arts & Sciences: General Studies major, McGovern leading the team and almost everyone in the region in goals, groundballs and draw controls. Coach Dianna Ste-Marie said, "Katie is the strongest athlete that I have had the pleasure to coach. She continues to impress me at every practice and game."
Herkimer County Community College is a unit of the State University of New York, located in Herkimer, NY about 20 miles east of Utica, NY. With an enrollment of approximately 3,600 students, Herkimer offers more than 40 associate degree and certificate programs, on-campus housing, an active co-curricular activities schedule and a national championship athletic program. Herkimer is a Division III member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and has amassed 33 national, 85 regional and 126 conference championships. Herkimer placed second in the 2010-11 National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Cup competition.
