MARIETTA, OH (03/25/2013)(readMedia)-- Marietta College's Katie Parks '14 (Rinard Mills, Ohio) recently made a presentation at the Spring Ohio Confederation of Teacher Education Organizations' conference in Dublin, Ohio.
Parks and fellow classmate Lori Ritchey '14 (Marietta, Ohio), who were joined by Education faculty members Dr. Dottie Erb and Dr. Carole Hancock, presented "A Partnership for All Seasons: Marietta College and the Ely Chapman Education Foundation."
Parks and Ritchey, who received an Investigative Studies Travel grant, also videotaped Alice Chapman, Director of the Ely Chapman Education Foundation, and incorporated that into the presentation.
"I think it was a special event for the girls. It was a first conference for both and they spoke like professionals," Hancock said. "We had a hand out, a presentation board instead of a PowerPoint, and a 45-minute presentation and a Q&A. One professor from Wittenberg was very interested in applying some of our ideas to a non-profit she was involved with in Springfield."
The College's Investigative Studies Program was founded in 1997 and since has provided tens of thousands of dollars in support. The Student Travel Grant Program provides competitive awards of up to $500 per student per project for students presenting their projects at academic conferences.
