SPRINGFIELD, MA (06/15/2010)(readMedia)-- Keira A. Duffy of Lyndonville, VT, received two awards during Baccalaureate ceremonies at Western New England College. Duffy was the recipient of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department's Award for Outstanding Senior and the Marston Engineering Award.
The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Award is presented to the top graduating senior in the department. The Marston Award is presented annually by the entire School of Engineering faculty to the student judged to have the most mature understanding of the principles of professional engineering practice. It is named after George Marston, Dean Emeritus of the Western New England College School of Engineering.
"Keira Duffy exemplifies the notion of the scholar-leader," said Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering Steven Northrup in presenting the Marston Award. Duffy served as Vice President and President of the Society of Women Engineers, as a peer advisor, and as an active member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. She was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta, Sigma Delta Tau, and Tau Beta Pi honor societies. Duffy graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
