VALPARAISO, IN (09/23/2010)(readMedia)-- Keith Kizer will be one of 16 alumni and volunteers recognized by the Valparaiso University Alumni Association during Homecoming festivities at the University this weekend. The honorees will be recognized during a special worship service at 10 a.m., September 26 in the Chapel of the Resurrection.
Kizer of Las Vegas, a 1988 graduate, will be honored with the Alumni Achievement Award, recognizing those who have achieved extraordinary success in their professional life.
Kizer is a member of the state bar of Nevada and is admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals of the United States. Kizer currently works for the Nevada Athletic Commission as its executive director. Previously, he served in private practice as well as in the attorney general's office in Nevada, as the senior deputy attorney general and later as the chief deputy attorney general of the gaming division. Kizer has been a member of various professional organizations including the International Association of Gaming Attorneys and the Association of Boxing Commissions. He earned the International Professional Ring Officials Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004 and was the featured speaker at the 2008 AAPRP Medical Conference. He served on the budget, finance and legal committee for Big Brothers Big Sisters, participated in the Human Rights Campaign and Doctors Without Borders, and has stayed active as an alumnus of his fraternity, Sigma Tau Gamma.
