For the fourth straight week, Rockford University junior forward Kevin Diemer has been voted the NACC South Division Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Diemer is now the first Regent to ever receive four NACC weekly awards in the same season. He also becomes only the fifth Regent (Robert Malone, Tony Diemer, Chad Zeman and Genesis Cerrato) to ever earn four NACC weekly awards in a single sport in their career.
Kevin Diemer recorded a double-double in both games to average a double-double for the third consecutive week and help Rockford capture a share of the NACC South Division Championship and the top seed in the conference tournament. Diemer opened with a game-high 18 points on 80% shooting, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block in Rockford's 73-66 win at Benedictine. On Saturday, Diemer finished with a team-high 17 points, 10 rebounds and 1 assist. He averaged 17.5 points on 66.7% shooting, 11 rebounds and 1 assist for the week.
The RU men's basketball team will host Concordia University Chicago in the opening round of the NACC Tournament on Wednesday, March 3 at 7 PM in the Seaver Center. If Rockford wins on Wednesday, the Regents will host the NACC South Division Tournament Championship on Saturday, March 6 at 5 PM in the Seaver Center against the winner of Wednesday's game between Benedictine University and Aurora University.
