Kimberleigh Pulford of Bethesda, Md., Receives Fulbright Award

PHILADELPHIA, PA (05/31/2012)(readMedia)-- Saint Joseph's University graduate Kimberleigh Pulford, an international relations major with minors in Latin American Studies, Spanish and history, has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to Malaysia.

As a freshman and sophomore at SJU, she dedicated herself to serving her community. Pulford participated in weekly service at the Life Center of Delaware County, an emergency shelter that provides housing and meals to the homeless.

Pulford's junior year was spent abroad: She studied in the fall at the Beijing Center for Chinese Studies at the University of International Business and Economics. In her spring semester, she traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina, through the IFSA Butler program.

Back at SJU, Pulford served as a supplemental instructor for the history department as well as a peer ambassador for the Center for International Programs.

Pulford has also been inducted into Sigma Delta Pi, the Spanish national honor society, Pi Sigma Alpha, the political science national honor society, and Phi Alpha Theta, the history national honor society.

Upon completion of her Fulbright placement in Malaysia, she hopes to pursue a career in government relations.

Pulfrod is one of five Saint Joseph's University students to be a Fulbright this year.
