MILLERSVILLE, PA (04/08/2011)(readMedia)-- Millersville University of Pennsylvania student Kim Landis, of New Holland, Pa., was recently named national student of the year by Alpha Epsilon Rho (AERho), the nation's oldest broadcasting honor society. She received her award at the 69th convention of the National Broadcasting Society-Alpha Epsilon Rho in Los Angeles, March 16-19. Twenty-five students from Millersville University attended the conference, along with more then 325 students from across the nation.
Landis, a junior communications and theatre major with an option in broadcasting, is the vice-president of the University's National Broadcasting Society chapter. She currently serves as program director for MUTV-99, Millersville's student run television station and is the executive producer of "In the Zone," a weekly sports talk program. She also announces sporting events, anchors news programs and co-produces a myriad of location shoots throughout the school year.
"She's the living example of what is possible when you become an active member of a student organization," commented Dr. Bill Dorman, faculty advisor to both NBS-AERho and MUTV-99. "Not only is she always in the studios helping on shows, but she's also excelling in the classroom in her courses," Dorman added. "Her future looks very exciting," he concluded.
Members of AERho are decided based on superior academic achievement and dedicated work to the organization, among other qualifications, and enter through an application process. Millersville was also one of five schools recognized as a Model Chapter in the AERho society.
