Korean Consul General and CEO of Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center to Speak at SUNY Canton

CANTON, NY (10/24/2016)(readMedia)-- The Republic of Korea's consul general will discuss U.S.-Korean economic partnerships, and the CEO of Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center will talk about leadership opportunities in the healthcare field as part of SUNY Canton's ongoing lecture series.

Gheewhan Kim, consul general for the republic of Korea, will speak at noon Thursday, Oct. 27, in the Richard W. Miller Campus Center, Room 218. Before assuming his current position, Kim was the minister for economic affairs at the Korean Embassy in Washington, D.C. He has also served at various overseas posts and completed his military service as a lieutenant in the Korean Navy.

Nate Howell, president and CEO of Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, will speak at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, in the Richard W. Miller Campus Center, Room 212. Howell has held senior executive positions at a number of hospitals across the country. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Arts from Colby College.

"Our Excellence in Leadership Lecture Series and Visiting Diplomat Series offer unique opportunities for our students, community members, faculty, staff, alumni and elected officials to hear from distinguished guests whose expertise range from international relations and national defense to business and entrepreneurship," said SUNY Canton President Zvi Szafran. "The lectures are held in a setting where attendees can ask questions and learn from leaders in their respective fields."

Past guests have included alumnus and founder of Lucky Tackle Box Rick Patri, German Consul General Brita Wagener, U.S. Air Force National Guard Attack Wing Commander Lt. Col. Michelle L. Kilgore, President and CEO of Nicholville Telephone Company Mark Dzwonczyk, and President and CEO of Canton-Potsdam Hospital David B. Acker, J.D.
