KUTZTOWN, PA (03/01/2018) Kutztown University has received a Campus Pride Index score of 4 out of 5 stars. The Campus Pride Index is a national benchmark tool that assists campuses in working to improve their LGBTQ campus life and make the educational experience more inclusive.

The index has been in development since 2001 and was put into use in 2007 by Campus Pride, a nonprofit organization for students and campus groups working to create an LGBTQ friendly learning environment at colleges and universities. The index tool includes over 50 self-assessment question which correlate to eight different LGBQ factors.

The GLBTQ resource center worked with various departments across campus to complete the assessment area questions that covered support and institutional commitment, academic life, housing and residence life, campus safety, and recruitment and retention efforts. The score show where Kutztown is doing well but also where there is room for improvement.
