MILLERSVILLE, PA (06/03/2014)(readMedia)-- Kyle Bedwell, Lancaster, Pa., has been selected to receive the Fred E. Oppenheimer Endowed Scholarship. Bedwell will graduate from Hempfield High School and will attend Millersville University of Pennsylvania this fall to study Spanish.
The scholarship is an award to be presented to an incoming freshman who selected a major in foreign language, based upon academic excellence, dedication to foreign language study. It is a non-renewable award of $368.
Bedwell achieved great academic success while pursuing a traditional college preparatory curriculum that included Honors and Advanced Placement classes. He was on the distinguished honor roll throughout high school while competing in both indoor and outdoor soccer. Bedwell was active in his Church Youth Group and was enrolled in the Society for Academic Excellence in Foreign Languages and a member of the Renaissance Club. Additionally, he volunteered and helped organize fund raising events for charity and school events and spent time as a peer tutor.
