ANNVILLE, PA (08/31/2011)(readMedia)-- Lebanon Valley College Conservatives will host the 9/11 Never Forget Project on Sept. 11 to honor all who perished on that solemn day. Students will create a 2,977-flag memorial on the academic quad, one flag for every life lost.
In addition to the flag memorial, they will be offering a "Sponsor-a-flag" initiative where for a dollar donation, visitors can have their name written on a label and affixed to a flag in the display. All donations will go to the to the 9/11 Memorial in New York City (www.911memorial.org) with the goal of raising enough money to sponsor an engraved paver at the memorial from "LVC and the surrounding communities." The pavers require a $1,000 contribution to the Memorial fund.
The 9/11 Never Forget Project is organized nationwide by the Young America's Foundation. More than 200 schools participated in the project in 2010–2011. This is LVC's second year participating.
The flag memorial and information table will be in place on campus all day; visitors are welcome at any time.
LVC Conservatives promotes traditional morals, freedom of expression, and furthers the cause of conservative values. The club hosts many events and activities throughout the year, including "Letters From Home," a service project at the community service fair where students write letters to men and women serving overseas, and "Operation Gratitude," where students collect supplies to ship to troops stationed overseas. The club also organizes a trip to the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C., and a fundraiser benefiting a pro-life pregnancy clinic in Lebanon.
