Lake Forest native Nate Bateman Named Forester Athlete of the Week

The senior helped the Foresters to a pair of victories over Illinois College and Knox College.

LAKE FOREST, IL (01/16/2012)(readMedia)-- Men's basketball player Nate Bateman (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest Academy) was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after helping lead Lake Forest to a pair of victories in the previous seven days.

Bateman, a senior forward, tied for team-high honors with a season-high 17 points in a 64-46 victory over visiting Illinois College last Saturday. He shot 6-for-9 from the field in the game, including a 3-for-6 performance from three-point range. He also had three rebounds, three assists, and a steal.

On Tuesday the Foresters came from behind to win 57-54 at Knox College. Bateman's 17 points led Lake Forest and he added five rebounds and a pair of steals in the game.

Bateman averaged 17 points while shooting 57 percent from the field and 43 percent from beyond the arc. He also pulled down four rebounds and added 1.5 steals per contest.

On the season Bateman ranks third on the team with 11 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest. He is also second on the squad with 13 steals and a dozen blocked shots in 11 games and ranks third in assists with 27.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
