DANVILLE, IL (05/25/2018) A Lakeview College of Nursing faculty member was recently honored with a distinguished service award. Rita Wallace of Marshall, IL, was chosen by her peers to receive the award at the College's spring graduation ceremony.
Wallace, who is an assistant professor and the skills and simulation coordinator at Lakeview's Charleston Campus, has been with the College since 2007. She is the third recipient of this distinguished service award, which was established to recognize outstanding service or academic contributions that further the educational mission of Lakeview College of Nursing.
Specific criteria for the nominees included the following:
Pam Sprouls, who is a member of the Lakeview faculty and the chair of the college committee that selects the recipient, said, "The winner of the distinguished service award for 2018 demonstrates a true commitment to Lakeview. She displays the values of adaptability, caring, excellence, integrity, and service."
Wallace was genuinely surprised to receive the award. She said, "I was very grateful to win such an honorable award. It means so much to me to be a positive influence on the next generation of professional nurses."
Wallace studied at Lincoln Trail Community College in Robison, IL, and Indiana Wesleyan University, where she obtained a master's degree in nursing. She is a former resident of Robison, IL and currently lives in Marshall, IL, with her husband, Trent Wallace. She is the daughter of Robert and Nancy Withiem of Robinson, IL.
