DANVILLE , IL (10/04/2016)(readMedia)-- The Lakeview College of Nursing president was honored with a distinguished service award. Sheila Mingee, of Georgetown, IL, was chosen by the College's faculty and staff to receive the award at the College's spring graduation ceremony.
Mingee, who has been employed by Lakeview since 1989, has held many roles at the College. Most recently, before taking the helm as president, she has served as the director of administrative services and facilities management as well as associate CEO. Currently, Mingee is chair of Lakeview's administrative committee and also serves ex-officio to all other Lakeview committees.
The Distinguished Service Award was established to recognize alumni, faculty or staff for their outstanding service or academic contribution that furthers the educational mission of Lakeview College of Nursing.
Specific criteria for the nominees included the following:
Rita Wallace, who is a Lakeview faculty member and chair of the professional development committee, presented the service award. She said "President Mingee embodies the values held by Lakeview College of Nursing. She has served the nursing community tirelessly and continues to inspire us with her dedication to not only LCN but her community!"
Mingee was nominated and accepted into the 2015-2016 Academic Leadership Academy at Penn State University and is Title IX Coordinator and Administrator Certified. She holds an MBA from Capella University as well as a Master of Science Degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University. Mingee said she was "honored and humbled to receive this award."
