DANVILLE , IL (10/19/2013)(readMedia)-- A group of students from Lakeview College of Nursing have organized a fundraiser to support Bright Minds to be held at Monical's Pizza, 909 18th Street, Charleston, on Tuesday, October 22 from open to close. The public is invited to attend.
Bright Minds is a branch of Central Illinois Autism Therapeutic Services (CIATS). This organization provides a wide-range of services to families who have children on the autism spectrum. They offer an after school program with tutoring and social skill training as well as training for parents.
The Lakeview students are hoping to raise awareness by contributing to the organization's sign fund. They are hopeful that a larger sign on the road will make people more aware of the services that are available.
Elizabeth Alexander of Effingham, IL; Carol Ann Cheetham of Charleston, IL; and Erin Considine and Brooke Hustmyer, both of Mattoon, IL, decided to pursue this after spending some time at Bright Minds during their school clinical experience this past summer.
"We recognized what a great service Bright Minds was providing. We also saw that they are in need of people, funds, and everyday school items. We wanted to be able to help them continue their program and at the same time let the local community know that they are out there. The sign is one of the first steps," explained Cheetham.
Anyone interested in this project can help by printing a flier for the pizza event from http://www.monicalspizza.com/assets/eventdocument/BrightMinds102213.pdf or picking one up at Lakeview College of Nursing, located at 903 N. Logan Ave. in Danville, IL. The flyer may be presented with your Monical's order on the specified date so that 20% of the total (excluding alcohol) will go directly to the Bright Minds.
