ALBANY, NY (04/29/2016)(readMedia)-- Reston, VA – Peter Kruszynski, principal of Lancaster Middle School in Lancaster, NY, has been appointed to a four-year term on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), effective July 1, 2016. NASSP is the leading organization of and national voice for middle level and high school principals, assistant principals, and all school leaders from across the United States.
Kruszynski has served at Lancaster Middle School since 2000, prior to which he was assistant principal for six years at Lancaster High School. He has held numerous positions with NASSP's state affiliate, the School Administrators of New York State (SAANYS), including president in 2009–10. Peter currently serves SAANYS as its NASSP representative to the SAANYS Board of Directors. He will leave the SAANYS Board of Directors to assume this national leadership position.
As a member of the NASSP Board of Directors, Kruszynski will participate in shaping the organization's federal education policy agenda that advocates for the needs of secondary schools and their students. He will also travel to Washington, D.C., periodically to meet with fellow board members and with national figures and federal education policymakers.
"The passage of the federal Every Student Succeeds Act creates a new urgency for school leaders to participate in the national conversations that will dictate how the law is implemented for many years to come," said NASSP Executive Director JoAnn Bartoletti. "Peter will be a part of those discussions, giving a firsthand account of the effects that federal laws and regulations will have on local schools and districts."
Kruszynski was elected by NASSP members during the NASSP Conference Ignite '16 in Orlando this past February. Visit www.nassp.org/board for a complete roster of the NASSP Board of Directors.
