Lancaster Resident Kent Grosh Awarded Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship

VILLANOVA, PA (05/18/2010)(readMedia)-- Villanova student Kent Grosh (Lancaster, Pa.) is one of three graduating seniors at the university who has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship for the 2010-11 academic year. Grosh will use the Fulbright to teach in Nepal, one of only two teaching assistantships awarded this year to that country.

Grosh, a Villanova Presidential scholar, plans to share his love of math and science through after-school tutoring in addition to his teaching assignment in Nepal. After his Fulbright year, Grosh hopes to pursue graduate study in sustainable technology and international development.

"It has been such an honor to work with this outstanding group of Villanova students on their applications for the Fulbright," said Jane Morris, Director of Villanova's Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships. "Each of them will be serving international communities as ambassadors of the United States and Villanova. I can't imagine having better representatives than our 2010 Villanova Fulbright Scholars."

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is the largest U.S. exchange program offering opportunities for students to undertake international graduate study, advanced research and teaching. The program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State to promote international good will through the exchange of students in the fields of education, culture and science. Fulbright Teachers teach English in schools and universities in their host countries while becoming fully integrated into the fabric of the local community. More than 1,500 students travel abroad each year on Fulbright awards.
