Land Rover Tempts Off-Road Enthusiasts with Guided Western Excursions
Instructor-Led Trips Navigate the Rugged Landscapes of Utah and Colorado
PEABODY, MASS. (07/16/2012)(readMedia)-- Everyone has seen commercials of Range Rovers tackling seemingly impossible angles on huge rock faces, but many Land Rover drivers wouldn't know where or how to start their own off-road expedition if given the opportunity. Enter the Land Rover Adventures program, which is organizing instructor-led summer excursions through some of the West's most beautifully rugged terrain.
Featuring a Four-Day Adventure in Moab, Utah and an Eight-Day Adventure that also heads to Telluride, Colo., the Land Rover Adventures program provides off-road enthusiasts of all abilities with one-on-one instruction in the 2012 Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Land Rover LR4. In the Moab Desert, drivers will climb steep mountains and the mesa's technical staircase, as well as navigate the notorious Hell's Revenge slickrock trail. A different landscape will greet eight-day adventurers when they move on to Telluride, where the Rocky Mountains and aspen-lined trails await them.
"Land Rover's Western excursions give fans an incredible opportunity to learn to how to properly drive these capable SUVs on some of the most picturesque and challenging off-road terrain in the world," said Dave Edwards, general manager of Land Rover Peabody, a Range Rover dealer in Massachusetts. "Just like each Range Rover though, that ruggedness is contrasted with luxury amenities during the trips. Participants will be staying at world-class resorts after their days of adventure and enjoy fine dining as well."
In Moab, adventurers on all trips will dine and stay at the luxurious Sorrel River Ranch Resort & Spa, while the Eight-Day Adventure will include lodging at Telluride's renowned Lumiere hotel and entrance to exclusive Telluride Film Festival events. Land Rover's Four-Day Adventure will take place from Aug. 24 to Aug. 27, and it is priced at $4,500 for a couple or $3,250 for one person. Running from Aug. 27 to Sept. 3, the Eight-Day Adventure will cost $13,000 per couple or $9,000 for one person. While Land Rover's largest vehicles have proven popular with off-roaders, the automaker's new compact luxury utility vehicle, the Range Rover Evoque, is earning the admiration of urban adventurers. The Evoque, which recently celebrated its one-year anniversary of production, has accomplished a lot since its debut, winning more than 110 global awards, including North American Truck of the Year, and selling nearly 80,000 units in just nine months.
The 2012 Range Rover Evoque continues to be a hot-seller in U.S. showrooms, moving 663 units in June. Land Rover's smallest, lightest and most fuel-efficient Range Rover ever helped the brand's U.S. sales increase 14 percent last month compared to June 2011. Year-to-date, Land Rover sales are up 21 percent year-over-year in the United States.
"The Evoque has had a big impact on Land Rover's sales for several months now, and it is turning new buyers on to the brand," added Edwards. "The modern styling of the Evoque sets it apart from any other SUV found on the streets of Boston. At the same time, the signature Land Rover capability is still there, so you can get as far as New England's trails will take you on weekends."
