Lane Closure Starts Monday for Work on U.S. Route 44 Bridge over the Wallkill River in Gardiner

ALBANY, NY (05/31/2013)(readMedia)-- Motorists are advised that starting June 3, one lane will be closed for construction work on the bridge carrying U.S. Route 44 over the Wallkill River between Albany Post Road and Farmers Turnpike in the Ulster County town of Gardiner. The lane closure is expected to be in effect through Thursday, August 8.

Traffic in both directions will alternate on the open lane, and will be controlled by a temporary traffic signal.

Crews will be performing maintenance, repair, and painting work on the bridge.

Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual's driver's license. It is imperative that motorists remember to drive carefully through this construction zone, for their own safety and the safety of workers.
