Lane Restrictions and Stoppages Continue This Week on the Northeastern Extension in Montgomery County
Overnight single lane patterns and traffic paces to impact traffic between Mid-County and Lansdale.
KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (09/22/2010)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists traveling on the Northeastern Extension of the PA Turnpike, between Mid-County (Exit #20) and Lansdale (Exit #31), to be prepared for bi-directional single lane closures and traffic paces with stoppages Wednesday (Sept. 22) and Thursday (Sept. 23) between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning.
Wed. and Thurs. nights, the contractor will close the right-lane southbound from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. and northbound at 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning.
Brief traffic paces are tentatively scheduled southbound between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. and motorists approaching the work zone south of Lansdale (Exit #31) should anticipate slow moving or stopped traffic.
At 10 p.m. northbound, the right-lane will be closed and State Police will conduct multiple traffic paces with periodic stoppages of up to 15 minutes in the left-lane until the Turnpike re-opens to traffic at 6 a.m.
The traffic restrictions allow the contractor to continue installing parts of steel beams on the bridge that carries Morris Road (SR 2001) over the Turnpike at milepost A27.2 in Upper Gwynedd and Worcester Townships, Montgomery County.
Between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. motorists should be prepared for slow moving or stopped traffic when approaching the construction zone located between milepost A26-A28. All work is weather permitting and could be rescheduled.
Reduced speeds (55/40 mph) are posted between the Mid-County and Lansdale exits. PA State Police will enforce the speed limits in the construction zones and fines will be increased.
