HOUGHTON, MI (03/28/2013)(readMedia)-- Michigan Technological University's Rail Transportation Program (RTP), a part of the Michigan Tech Transportation Institute (MTTI), awarded eight scholarships this spring.

Among the recipients was Colin Lay, from McHenry, who recieved $2,000. Lay is a fourth-year mechanical engineering student who will graduate in spring 2014 after his second co-op with Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac, Wisc. He is the son of Janet and Steve Lay.

All scholarship recipients were members of the Railroad Engineering and Activities Club (REAC), a multidisciplinary student organization for those with an interest in rail.
