Leaders in Social Justice and Blouin Global Scholars Forum

Over the Fall and Spring semesters the Blouin Global Scholars and Leaders in Social Justice participated in two forum events which challenged them to come up with a proposal to address the needs within the migrant/immigrant communities in Northeast Ohio using a fictitious grant of $25,000. The teams of Leaders and Blouins were required to write a proposal that worked in collaboration with a non-profit organization in Northeast Ohio that reflected Catholic teaching. They then presented their proposals to a panel of faculty, staff, and alumni judges who asked questions about their pitch, then chose the winning proposal.

Students used problem solving strategies, research methods, project management, and presentations to effectively address the challenge given. Through active participation in the challenge, BGS and LSJ students were equipped with these career enhancing skills.
