Lebanon Valley College Invites Community to Hear Inspirational, Global Stories of Local Autho

ANNVILLE, PA (01/31/2017) (readMedia)-- Members of the community are invited to meet author, world-traveler, and athlete Jacqui Cassel M'12 in the Engle Family Lobby of Frederic K. Miller Chapel at Lebanon Valley College. Jacqui will share life stories from her book, Ascension, and explore her life as a Seven Continents Club member having run at least one marathon on every continent, a person of faith on a unique path to healing, and a board member of Sustainable Initiatives and Alliances for Africa, among others. The event, to be held Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 11 a.m., will include a light pizza and salad lunch.

Cassel's book is divided into three sections: the first explores "the shadow self that develops within a family afflicted with addiction, narcissism or other forms of abuse and spiritual darkness," and teaches readers how to acknowledge their difficult experiences and move forward in life; the second shares Cassel's own personal journey, chronicling her re-awakening and the divine guidance that led her to a path of healing; and, the final section offers guidance to readers who are ready to enhance their own sense of self-empowerment.

Ascension incorporates real-life experiences, a guide to our internal energy system, and tools that assess innate talents and gifts to encourage fulfillment of one's life mission at any age.

Cassel, who received LVC's MBA degree in 2012, is highly involved in humanitarian efforts. In 2015, she first traveled to Africa. Her meetings with Maasai Warriors in the region of Nairobi, as well as with individuals from war-torn countries in places such as Sudan, initiated her support for The Girls Project in Kenya through Sustainable Initiatives and Alliances for Africa.

LVC Chaplain Paul Fullmer, a key organizer of the event, characterize the time as an engaging, informal opportunity to learn about an inspirational life of faith lived from a global perspective. "As a presenter, Jacqui seeks to engage her audience with openness, understanding, and a great sense of humor. There will be time for questions throughout the presentation."

Ascension will be available for purchase at this event and in the Lebanon Valley College Store. Copies are also available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other online bookstores.

Although there is no cost to attend the presentation, pre-registration is appreciated. Contact LVC's Offices of Spiritual Life at 717-867-6135 or nsmith@lvc.edu to register.
