ANNVILLE, PA (10/16/2012)(readMedia)-- Lebanon Valley College's Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery will open its newest exhibition, "Unnatural Disorder: Prints by Sue Coe," Friday, November 2. Featuring art by Sue Coe, the art in the exhibit examines topics such as animal cruelty, corporate greed, apathy, rape, destruction, and war. An opening reception will be held Nov. 2 from 5 until 7 p.m.

After growing up in England and studying at London's Royal College of Art, Sue Coe moved to New York in 1972. She worked as an illustrator, publishing pieces in Time Magazine, The New Yorker, and The New York Times. Influenced by her political cartoon background, Coe's work functions as a commentary on culture and society. Coe's characteristic blend of typography and illustration conveys her concern with the abuse of living things through social and cultural conflict and destruction.

Coe has published several books, including "How to Commit Suicide in South Africa," "X,", "Meat: Animals and Industry", "Dead Meat", "Pit's Letter", "Bully!: Master of the Global Merry-Go-Round", "Sheep of Fools", and "Cruel: Bearing Witness to Animal Exploitation". Her work has been featured in exhibits at the Galerie St. Etienne, National Museum of Women in the Arts, Crown Center Gallery, David Winton Bell Gallery, and several other prominent galleries.

In addition to the exhibit, artist Sue Coe will lecture in Zimmerman Recital Hall on Thursday, November 29, at 5 p.m. The lecture is free and open to the public. A monoprinting and woodcut workshop and children's monoprinting workshops will take place Saturday, November 17 at 9 a.m. Participants must pre-register and pay a registration fee.

Gallery hours are Wednesdays from 5 to 8 p.m.; Thursdays and Fridays from 1 to 4:30 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and by appointment for groups. Schools and other organizations are encouraged to contact the Gallery for a guided visit. Additional information is available at www.lvc.edu/gallery, gallery@lvc.edu, or 717-867-6445. "Unnatural Disorder: Prints by Sue Coe" closes December 16. The next exhibit, "Gordon Parks: Crossroads," will open January 18.
