ANNVILLE, PA (09/09/2015)(readMedia)-- Lebanon Valley College ranks second in the North in the "Great Schools, Great Prices" category among "Best Regional Colleges" in U.S. News & World Report's 2016 edition of the book "America's Best Colleges." In addition, LVC again ranked sixth overall among the 73 colleges in the north. LVC has placed among the top 10 colleges in this category for all 12 years this list has been compiled.
U.S. News & World Report publishes the best-known ratings of the nation's colleges and universities. The "Great Schools, Great Prices" ranking is based on a calculation that takes into account a school's academic quality, based on its U.S. News Best Colleges ranking, and the 2014–2015 net cost of attendance for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid.
Among the 363 total institutions in the U.S. News "Best Regional Colleges" category, Lebanon Valley College ranked in the top one percent for 2014 actual graduation rate and top one percent for enrolling freshmen from the top 25 percent of their high school class.
LVC also ranked in the top three percent for average freshmen retention rate (meaning students return for their sophomore year). With 66 percent of its freshmen having ranked among the top 25 percent of their high school class, LVC placed fifth overall among 363 schools. The Valley also is #3 on the list of Best Colleges for Veterans (North Regional Colleges). LVC's 2014 actual graduation rate of 75 percent, an increase of 2 percentage points over the previous year, means that only three institutions had a higher graduation rate.
"Lebanon Valley College's strong annual results in U.S. News and World Report's rankings reinforce the value of our rigorous academic programs, which empower our students to graduate on schedule and achieve success afterward," said Marty Parkes, executive director of marketing and communications.
Approximately 98 percent of LVC students receive grant or scholarship aid from the College. Generous academic scholarships are awarded to students whose high school records demonstrate a commitment to achievement.
Our 2015 graduates are enrolled in doctoral programs for analytical chemistry, chemistry, clinical psychology, English literature, immunology, mathematics, mechanical engineering, organic chemistry, physical therapy, and school psychology.
